March 30, 1936 ~ August 1, 2018

Resided in: Milpitas, California

Mona Burton, age 82, passed away on Wednesday evening, August 1st, 2018. She was with her husband, Trevor, at the time of her passing. Mona was born on March 30th, 1936, in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales, daughter of Horace Jones and Florence Bynan Jones. After spending her youth in Wales, Mona moved to Luton, England, with her parents and younger brother, Allan. It was in Luton where she met and later married the love of her life, Trevor Burton, on her 21st birthday in 1957. Together, they had two sons, and in 1967, moved their young family to the San Francisco Bay Area. After a few moves, they settled in the then quiet suburb of Milpitas where they stayed to this day. During Mona’s years, she enjoyed her knitting, reading, bowling, her BBC Television shows along with traveling extensively with her husband. Some of their favorite destinations were the beaches of Hawaii and Mexico as well as going on ocean cruises. However, her true passion was spending as much time with and spoiling her two grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 61+ years, Trevor; her two sons, Ian and Dean; her brother, Allan; and her two grandchildren, Devon and Connor. A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, August 9th, 2018 at Berge-Pappas-Smith Chapel of the Angels, 40842 Fremont Blvd, Fremont, CA 94538. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in Mona’s honour.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Mona held a special place in the hearts of all who knew her.

To me, she was my Auntie Mona, a part of my life for as long as I can remember. She was there for nearly all my life and she was someone I always looked forward to seeing.

Mona and Trevor were a perfect match. Trevor’s cheekiness was always met with Mona’s smile and light rebuke of, “Trevor, stop it!”. Always said with a laugh in her voice.

Mona’s passing was too soon and I will miss her greatly. My love and support to Trevor, Ian, Dean, Devon and Connor. She lived and breathed for you all and loved you fiercely.

With love from Sam (and George) xxx

  2. I’m so sad. Mona was a very special person, almost like a sister to me. I’ll miss her so much. Loved our phone calls and hearing her sweet Welsh accent.
She went much too soon. No time for last “Goodbyes”.
She’ll be missed bu everyone who knew her.
Love to all her family. xxx

  3. My dear Mona, what can I say, we have been friends for close to 50 years, you were taken so soon from us & we have to accept that you’re suffering has ended.
Rest In Peace, you are now reunited with those of your family in Heaven.
    Love always Tony.

  4. Missing you so much my love, today is such a sad day. I will remember all the happy times we spent with dear friends and our families. Camping with the children when they were young were such happy times. The get togethers for birthdays, weddings and dances at the CPO Club we’re happy times also.
Mona, my heart is heavy with such a sad loss for a dear friend, I never had a Sister, so to me you were as close to the one I never had. The recent time spent with yourself and Trevor was meant to be. We reminisced about all our lovely times, laughed so much, and now the tears. Love you Mona forever. Our Love to the Family, Trevor, Ian Marilyn, Dean, Granchildren, Connor, Devon, Alan and Cathy, Barbara and Bill, God Bless You All.
Eternal Rest Give Unto Her our Lord, and May She Rest In Peace Amen.

  5. Our deepest condolences to dear Trevor, Ian and Dean, Marilyn, Devon and Connor along with your families on the loss of your dear wife, mother and grandmother.
We were heart broken to hear of the loss of a dear friend and wonderful, gentle lady.
We shall forever miss you, dear Mona ~ Rest in peace ~ til we meet again on the other side of the rainbow.
