Barbara Baca entered peacefully into rest on September 20, 2017 in Union City, CA. Born August 11, 1935, to Andrew and Olive Drewniak in Spokane, Washington where she was born and raised. She moved to Reno, Nevada with her husband Tom Baca and had her four children, before then settling in Newark, CA in 1968.
Barbara is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Tom Baca. She was the loving mother of Russell Baca and his wife Tamara, John Baca, Daniel Baca and his wife Renee, Laurie Peterson and her husband Jack. She is also survived by her brother Robert Allen. Barbara was the devoted grandmother of Erin, Michelle, Megan, Lauren, Katelyn, Christopher, Emily Baca and, Jack III, and Rand Peterson. She was proceeded in death by her late grandson, Garrett Baca.
Barbara belonged to St. James the Episcopal Catholic Church. She retired from the Alameda County Water District as the Engineering Office Supervisor. She enjoyed reading, traveling and lived for her family and loved them dearly.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of her life 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 25, 2017, at Berge Pappas Smith Chapel of the Angels, 40842 Fremont Blvd., Fremont, CA 94538. Burial will take place at Irvington Memorial Cemetery. Family requests remembrances made to the Alzheimer’s Association at 2290 North 1st Street #101, San Jose, CA 95131, in Barbara’s name.
I am just finding out about Barbara’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time. I worked with Barbara at the water district for 20 years. May she forever be at peace.
